Mike Nifong for his idiotic handling of the Duke lacrosse rape case. For some strange reason, I knew very early on that things just didn't add up in this case and that the three players accused of the rape were being wrongfully targeted by the African-American community and Duke University itself. No evidence was ever found to prove that a rape ever occurred. Two DNA tests were taken on each player and none of them matched what was on the victim. Mr. Racist himself, Al Sharpton and his butt buddy, Jessie Jackson, came to Durham and lashed out at the players and titled them "brutal rapists." (Neither man has come forward to apologize to the players. Typical of course of Sharpton)

I never really liked Duke University to begin with. And I can now say that I have lost so much respect for whatever dignity that school has left. Duke University clearly showcased themselves as a non-caring instituion, that if you are accused of something, don't expect the school to support you even when evidence hasn't been shown of your involvement. That's what Duke University did when they let their Lacrosse coach resign and suspended the Lacrosse season and suspended the three players from the school. An absolutely disgraceful thing for a college to do. So if your a future college student out there, looking for a good college to attend, I asked that you don't add Duke University to that list.

As for Mike Nifong, the only thing he accomplished in this case was to get re-elected by the dumb-witted citizens of Durham, NC. Nifong has been disbarred and he will not be allowed to practice law for at least the next five years. He can re-apply for his license at that time, but I seriously doubt the citizens will allow this guy to serve in a public form in that area of the country again. Look for Mike Nifong to move out of the state and apply for a job as a Wal-Mart door greeter.

Memorial Day

So how did I spend my Memorial Day this past week? By watching Flags of Our Fathers on the Blu-Ray DVD player. I encourage everyone out there to see this film if they haven't already. It really is an interesting movie. Not only does it tell the story of the three surviving members of the "flag-raisers" you see in the picture to the right, but it tells the story of the war on the island of Iwo Jima. It truly is a history lesson and I loved the film. It has moved quickly to the top of my list of being one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Clint Eastwood is just an unbelievable talent. Not only did he direct this movie, but he actually composed most of the music along with his son Kyle.

And as I was watching this move, I thought about my grandfathers who both fought in World War II. Although they were not part of the fight on Iwo Jima, I still saw them in this film. Anytime I watch a wartime movie, I can't help but think of my grandfathers. And I was already thinking about them alot on this particular day, Memorial Day, as I always do. The movie was very emotional for me, but in a good way. It's been over 10 years since I lost both of my grandfathers, but when watching Flags of Our Fathers, it was almost as if they were right there on the screen fighting alongside their fellow soldiers.

God Bless my grandfathers and May God Always Bless the men and women who ever put on a uniform.

And don't let the door hit ya.....

With Rosie O'Donnell finally gone from The View, it just seems my prayers keep getting answered. Remember Cindy Sheehan? Yea, I didn't think so. She was the crying mother who lost a son in the Iraq War and demanded to meet with the President to get an answer on why her son had to die. Well, she is finally leaving whatever movement she started. Yep, she's packing up and heading home. In otherwords, she has given up. So raise your little white flag Cindy and tuck your little liberal tail between your legs and go back to that miserable life you had before. He was a President back in the 70's. Yea, the guy that owns a peanut farm and helps build houses. The guy that had a crazy brother and an ugly daughter. Yea, him. Well, now he's trying to get back in the spotlight. And I guess the only way to do that is to open your big mouth and say stupid things. Negativity plays a huge role in a our national press these days and idiots like Mr. Carter are the ones that get all the publicity. Anyway, Jimbo Carter made a remark this past week about how George Bush's presidency is the "worst" in history. Not sure why he even said it and I'm not sure why someone was interviewing him. I'm just tired of idiotic people bashing a president that has gone through so much since the first months of his presidency. Wonder what ole Jimmy would have done if he was dealt a national tragedy of losing over 2900 American citizens in one day. And on American soil. He couldn't even deal with the oil crisis back in his day. How the hell do you think he would have handle losing American lives and handling the press and the constant bitching by his fellow politicians? How do you think he would have handle the pressure of the American public looking at you for an answer to this tragedy? He wouldn't have been able to handle it. He would have taken off to Camp David and booze up with some Billy Beer. So for now, STFU Mr. Carter!!

"I'm not serving you"

What a great story out of Louisville, KY this past week. OJ Simpson, the former NFL star who brutally killed his ex-wife and friend, was denied service at an upscale steakhouse. Simpson walked in with about 12 of his "friends" and was seated at a table in the back of the restaurant. When a customer came up to the owner, Jeff Ruby, and was all "giddy" about seeing Simpson, Ruby decided to kick him out. He simply went to the table and told Simpson and his clan to leave. Simpson, showing whatever class he has left, made no argument and left quietly. Upon leaving, the restaurant patrons cheered on the owner for his actions. In an American Online poll of just over 275,000 votes, 84% agree with what the owner did. I too applaud Jeff Ruby and I encourage all business owners to do the same. If you see Simpson in your store or restaurant, refuse service to him. It's that simple. I work in the hotel industry and we have the luxury of refusing service to anyone without explanation.

And here's a good one for you. Simpson's "lawyer" is stating that this was a case of racism. Racism folks. You know, the answer to all black people's problems. If at first you don't succeed, claim racism. Whatever. I don't think this has anything to do with racism. I think this has to do with a man nearly decapitating his ex-wife's head off and stabbing an innocent man to death.

OJ Simpson does not deserve to breath and live in our society. I hope this is the beginning of his demise.

Oprah backs Obama

Oprah Winfrey has announced that she is backing Barack Obama in next year's elections. It's a documentary film about the career of NASCAR Legend Dale Earnhardt. I can simply say this, if your an Earnhardt fan, you'll think this is the greatest movie you've ever seen. For those of you who might not know the story, Dale Earnhardt was called The Intimidator on the track. You either hated him or you loved him. Drivers hated seeing that black number three car coming up behind them. It was either you move out of the way, or be moved. He was aggressive and most times ruthless. But what this movie shows you is the different side of Earnhardt. The father you never saw in him. The jokester you never really saw on tv. The kind and caring man who took every opportunity to brighten a kid's day. (He did so twice in this film alone) I started watching NASCAR racing and Earnhardt over 20 years ago. I thought I knew all there was about him. I was wrong. Unfortunately for most of you out there, this movie is only showing in select cities. Race cities to be exact. But don't worry, the film is heading to the DVD market and I expect it to be release sometime in the summer. Trust me, even if you don't like NASCAR, run out to Wal-Mart and buy this film. It's great. Everything you want to know about a man who came from humble beginnings to becoming the greatest stock car driver this country has ever seen is all in this film. Paul Newman narrates the movie, but most of the talking comes from the man himself, Dale Earnhardt. Great film folks.

Under Construction

Be patient with me today. My hotel signed a 2 race deal to be a co-sponsor for BAM Racing and our logo was placed on the rear panel on both sides of the car. With this, our hotel offered free rooms to the owners and crew, including Mike Bliss himself. I had a chance to meet Mike at the hotel. Very nice and quiet guy. I guess that's the advantages of working in the business I'm in. You have great opportunities of doing things you might have never imagined doing.

I can't even remember when I actually started watching NASCAR racing and becoming a fan. Well, as a NASCAR fan, my dream came true this past weekend. By assisting BAM Racing with some accommodations, they in return, accommodated us in a big way. They provided pit passes for the employees who wanted to go to the races. Well, I took full advantage of that offer. On Saturday, I went out to see a few laps of the Busch Series race. Then on Sunday, I was at the Samsung 500 and you would not believe the luxury of having garage and pit passes. You literally bump into drivers and owners as you walk the garage area. On Sunday we met with the owners and they are really nice people. That's what NASCAR is all about. Just down home type of people. Very laid back. One of the owners even promised us that we would have a chance to sit up on the pit box once the race got under way. Well, that never happened. Mike wrecked his car 44 laps in and his day was done. The owners were very upset but they appreciated everything we did for them. They'll be back for the November races. Hopefully Mike will do better.

You can view my photos here and here.

You can visit BAM Racing at http://www.bamracing.com/

Also visit my YouTube videos at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiyaOOsC6PE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGuHVcZ4t8Y

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bweKE38RYYE

Don Imus is a HO!

I believe everyone knows by the now the big story about radio personality Don Imus calling the Rutgers women's basketball team a bunch of "nappy-headed hos". Those comments have started another round of black versus white and the endless struggle of racism in this country. I can't say I was shocked when I heard Imus say that. The guy is a mean-spirited individual who has always tried to find controversy to boost his ratings. But what I am most surprised by is the fact that he actually watched the women's basketball championship. Who the hell cares about women's sports anyways?? I know I don't. Except maybe when the Olympics comes around and I root for the best looking girl on the gymnastics team.

Here's my beef. Why take someone as legendary as Imus off the air while you have an ugly fat grotesque-looking pig like Rosie O'Donnell on national television every day?? I don't get it. I'm not here to take up for what Imus said. Nobody in their normal mind has the right to call someone a "ho" on national airwaves. You just don't do that. But to have Rosie O'Donnell try her best to brainwash America into believing that our own government orchestrated the events of 9/11 is a tragedy. An absolute tragedy. And some of you people are buying into it. (God Bless your souls)

If the African-American community can force a Don Imus off the air, why can't the AMERICAN public come together and force a Rosie O'Donnell off the air??? It's simple. Let your voice be heard like mine.

I can't hear you??

Do you see what I see?

My brother sent me the following picture today. Please. I beg you. Is there not a day that goes by now that Rosie doesn't piss somebody off?? Now she's pissing off the families of the victims lost on September 11, 2001. Did you hear about how she thinks WTC Buliding #7 was brought down my explosives?? She's in the same nut sack as Charlie Sheen in believing our own governement orchestrated the attacks on 9/11. Can you believe this crap?? What American would think this way?? I can understand trying to be controversial to get ratings, but JESUS!!!! To believe we killed our own countrymen. Rosie O'Donnell should be fired for her idiotic statements. If your like me and are obsessed by the national phenomenon that is American Idol, then you know there is something brewing on this years show that doesn't smell very good. It looks as if this might be the year that the worst singer ends up being the best singer. Well, best meaning he got the most votes. With the support of Howard Stern and the website, votefortheworst.com, it looks as if Sanjaya Malakar is going to rain on alot of people parades during this years competition. And I really think it's a travesty. I could care less about who wins because I really don't see enough talent this year to make me pick up the phone and cast my vote. (I just ain't got the McPheever this year) But what gets me is the lazy asses at home or the low lifes that are dedicated to Stern that would literally eat his feces if he asked them too, are the ones screwing this whole process up. Stern has a following that could only make Jim Jones and David Koresh drool in the mouth. And what Stern tells his audience, the audience obeys. A couple of weeks ago, Stern made the pledge on air that he was voting for the worst, Sanjaya, and that his listeners should too. I find it hard to believe that even a minority of Stern listeners even watch the show. And I don't think I need to tell you just how huge his audience is.

But let me make myself perfectly clear, I don't blame Stern entirely on this. I like him. I used to listen to him. I used to watch his show on E!. But I was never obsessed with him. I never went out and bought something he endorsed. Your not going to see me in a Wal-Mart buying a Sirius satellite radio so I can pay to listen to Stern now. No way. Frankly, I won't pay a dime to listen to a multi-millionaire pretending to be just another average Joe while having pornstars rub their naked chests against his groin. (All of this while on the air mind you)

But Stern and the low-lifes at votefortheworst.com are getting their point across. They don't like the show. They don't like the audition process where alot of talent was turned away in favor of morons auditioning in front of the celebrity judges to spice up the entertainment value of what makes the audition telecasts humorous.

It should be interested to see how this all turns out if the American Idol producers let this thing get carried out. I think there needs to come a time where they need to step in and say enough is enough. You had your fun Sanjaya, but now it's time for you to hit the karaoke bar. And take your girly hair with you please.

Give me money!!!!!

It's that time again. Fundraising time. This will be the second year that my hotel will be hosting an Alex's Lemonade Stand. Last year we raised over $4200 and were hoping to do better this time around. This year's event will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 10:00am-2:00pm. We have Dallas Cowboy Tony Dorsett coming back for another autograph signing. He will be bringing his good friend Everson Walls as well. Some of you may recall the recent surgery Everson had in donating his kidney to former player Ron Springs.

We will also be having another silent auction with alot of great items. Just some of the items we have now include autograph pictures of Lance Armstrong, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and Roger Staubach. We will also have countless packages from various hotels in the DFW area, San Antonio, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, and other big city hotels.

I'm asking you as my friend or a simple visitor, to donate to an organization that helps benefit childhood cancer research. Not only does this money go towards research, but it helps with securing medication for a child in need. It also helps with education and for grants that are being setup at various hospitals in the country that will help a child's family who wouldn't normally be able to afford the medical expenses. To date, the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised over $10 million dollars. And this is only the beginning. It's a great cause and I hope you will do your part.

Start here by donating at: www.firstgiving.com/hgicares

I'm back

I apologize for being away so long. As you can see, my last post was in March. Where have I been? Well, nowhere really. Just been busy. This month, along with my friends at the hotel, I held my very first fundraising effort to raise money for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. This is a great organization that raises funds for pediatric cancer research. Although the turnout was not that great, we did manage to raise over $3500 in one day. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Next up on the charity checklist: The Jerry Lewis Telethon. I am currently in talks with the local news channel who hosts this event every year to see how the hotel staff can get involved. I will keep you posted on what are roles will be. There is a very good chance that we'll be the lucky ones you see on tv that answer your telephone calls.

Why??

I got this e-mail from my good friend Winona. I mean, my own grandmother has a computer and knows very well on how to send an e-mail. She grew up in the days where the telegram was still a useful mean of communication and stamps only cost a couple of pennies.

The world is changing and it's changing fast. So as I tell my illegal immigrant friends, "if you don't catch up, get out of my country."

So I'm standing in the "do-it-yourself" checkout line today at the local Kroger. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about when I say the do-it-yourself part. You basically scan the items yourself and then pay by cash or credit card. It was a little busy since I was heading home after work. (I guess nobody does their grocery shopping on the weekends anymore) I just have a 12 pack of Diet Mountain Dew. A quick stop. So I'm standing there and I can assume a grandfather and his grandson are checking their items out. I kid you not, each time the grandfather scans his item, he looks up at the screen to see if it went through. He obviously can't hear the beep. Each item. He looks up. "Did it go through?" He asks his grandson. While there was four other registers been taken up, I had to stand there and watch this through. And here's the best part. When it's time for the grandfather to swipe his credit card, he was trying to feed it through the cash taking part. He had no clue how to do this whole procedure. I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head.

Which brings me back to my point. Get with the program people. I could care less about how young or old you are. It's part of the process. People get old and so does my patience. Either move on or get out of my way.

5 years later..and it still hurts

<img style="DISPLAY: block; Yes, you read that correctly. I am in South Padre for the next week and a half to overlook a Travelodge hotel due to the recent firing of the general manager here. Don't ask, long story.
I must say the palm trees bring back some memories of the years I spent in Myrtle Beach. It was good to see the beach again. The waves and the sand and the breeze. I woke up to 74 degrees today and it looks like we might have an afternoon shower. Not bad weather for December huh? I'm sure its cold wherever you are in the world. But as nice as it is down here, I can't wait to get back to Dallas. I left the beach life three years ago and don't anticipate ever moving back to it. I'm a big city guy and I feel so out of place here in South Padre. But the folks are nice down here and their trying their best to make me feel at home. Their trying. But come next Thursday, I'll be on that plane to Dallas and then on Saturday, a nice flight home to West Virginia for a Christmas vacation. I can't wait. Adios!

25 Years ago today

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

25 years ago today the world lost a true hero in every sense of the word. I for one am not a big supporter of protesters and people who try their best to change the world only for self publicity. But John Lennon was different. Although I was only seven years old when he was fatally shot on this day in 1980, his words in song and literature will carry on forever. He was a believer in peace. He wanted you to be a believer. Unfortunately, since his death, this country is more divided and the world is in more danger than you and I can ever imagine. I often wonder, what if John Lennon was still here. Would the world be better off? I have yet to see another John Lennon who was so passionate about peace and for mankind. There have been numerous celebrities who have contributed so much to so many different causes. But neither of them come close to John Lennon and spreading the word of peace. Would you believe it if it happened? Would you believe it if you saw it? Would you believe it when you hear it? The sounds of laughter in Iraq. The sight of children reading in an African schoolhouse. The cries of joy when the last terrorist has been captured. Would you believe it? I can only...Imagine.

A Holiday Message from Todd

Well my friends, the holiday season is officially upon us. Your probably still sipping on a little pepto after that Thanksgiving feast at grandma's house and just about ready to take that late afternoon nap and wake up in time to catch another rerun of a holiday movie like It's A Wonderful Life or The Wizard of Oz. Or maybe your sitting in front of a computer at work wishing you were at home with mom and dad and chowing down on some of those deviled eggs your aunt always make and just can't get enough of. Well, that's me this year. For the past five years I have not made it home for a Thanksgiving dinner. I have always chosen Christmas to be my time at home. To celebrate that holiday with the ones I truly love. But as I sit in front of this computer typing this message to each of you, I offer my holiday wish to you and your friends and family.

Be thankful. Thank that guy upstairs that were here today and we'll be tomorrow. Be thankful for those who will gather around you at the dinner table this evening and will share stories of times gone by. Be thankful for those who will make their journey home this Christmas and who will spend hours and hours in an airport terminal waiting for the next flight out so they can be home with their loved ones. Be thankful. That's all I ask. The world it seems is crumbling all around us. (At least that's what the media wants you to believe) The war is ongoing and who really knows when those brave men and women will be home for good. Global warming is an issue that seems to never die as the polar ice cap continues to melt. But as James Dean once quoted, "dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow." Focus on today and not what might be. Only the Lord and Nostradamus could see the future. Take the day as the day comes. Live with it. Enjoy it. Spread that enjoyment to those around you whether it be at the workplace or even at the next town hall meeting. Be kind to those who are kind to you. It doesn't take alot of effort to smile. As hard as it is to do these days, it's a simple gesture that could brighten a person's day in a second. Believe me, I've done it and it works.

Take the things you do in life serious, but don't take life itself so serious. Most people focus more on themselves rather than others. Of course you want to do what's best for you in life, but challenge yourself to reach out every once in awhile and lend a hand to someone who needs it. There are rewards in life. From your newborn child to the pay raise at work. People are rewarded only because they deserve it. But it's that effort. That tiny little effort that will make you a better person and in the end, a good life. That in itself is a reward. So in short, reward yourself. Do something good with your life. Start taking those fitness classes you swore you would do after every new years resolution. Take up classes at the local community college to learn more about the mechanics of this new world of technology we live in. (It's called an iPod and you can download thousands of songs on it) Do something with your life and have fun with it. Live better. It's your life. Your the one that's in control of it. Don't wait for others to tell you what to do.

In closing, I say this. We will all be gone soon. Not tomorrow or next week, but our day shall come. That day will come when we will close our eyes to this world we live in and open them to a far better one. And when that day comes, we will grasp our grandchildren's hands one last time and tell them the exact same thing I just told you. Live life as if there's no tomorrow. Take the day as the day comes. Have fun with it. And for this holiday season, hug that relative or friend a little longer. Actually say the words "I love you Dad" and "I love you Mom." Don't think it, say it. Be kind my friends. I wish you all the best and may God bless all of us as we head into the year 2006.

Happy Holidays!
Your friend,
Todd

Sad day for Halloween fans

The recent hotel bombing in Jordan has brought some sad news to me personally. Among those killed was Hollywood producer Moustapha Akkad. For those of you who might not know who he was, he was the filmmaker best known for producing the "Halloween" series of horror movies. He produced all eight of the Halloween films. He is the sole reason that kept Michael Myers and the franchise alive. Mr. Akkad and his daughter Rima were attending a wedding reception at the Radisson hotel, where the first and deadliest of the blasts took place. Akkad and his daughter are two of the three Americans killed in the attacks. This is truly a sad day for Halloween fans everywhere. Where does the franchise go from here? My deepest sympathy to the Akkad family and to the entire Halloween film family.

Moustapha Akkad and his daughter, Rima, at her 1999 wedding. I have accepted a new position back in Texas that I simply can't refuse. It took me these few months to realize that moving back to West Virginia was not the smartest move. I let my personal feelings get in the way of what my professional life was giving me. And now, that professional life will be able to give me a personal life I have been craving for my entire adult life. All in all, I realized that I just don't belong in West Virginia. As much as I tried to adapt to my home state, I just can't relate to the people of this state. I came back to a state of citizens who were rude and vicious and could care less about their fellow man. Whether it was the rude people I encountered in a parking lot after a Marshall football game or watching a young man rob an old lady's purse outside the Charleston Civic Center, this is not where I want to be. And of all places I have lived in my life, I found peace in Texas. That's where I belong. I'm glad to be going back. As much as I will miss my family, they realize this is what I want to do and quite frankly need to do.

Revising the words of Edward Bloom in Big Fish "this state (West Virginia) is simply too small for a man of my ambition." I'm a Texan once again! Heehaw!!!!!

New Design

My new blogger website has a new design. Here is my pick for Jackass of the Month for September. Due to the recent Hurricane in the Gulf Coast, it was a no-brainer on who my choice would be for the first Jackass of the Month Award. Introducing.....

Mayor of New Orleans, C. Ray Nagin
In an interview with CNN, the mayor had this to say, "come on, man. You know, I’m not one of those drug addicts. I am thinking very clearly. And I don’t know whose problem it is. I don’t know whether it’s the governor’s problem. I don’t know whether it’s the President’s problem, but somebody need to get their ass on a plane and sit down, the two of them, and figure this out right now."

How about...it's your problem? Boy did you screw up Mr. Mayor. You saw this coming. You didn't even have the power to force your own citizens to get out of your drug-infected, crime-laden, hooker on every street corner crap of a town. As much as this country wants to see resolve and determination from the citizens of New Orleans like we saw in NYC, it just ain't happening. And this jackass of a Mayor is leading the way by criticising the federal government when he should be blaming himself. I've worked in the hotel business for eight years now and there is a standing rule in this business. When you are dealt a problem from a guest, it is your problem to resolve. This mayor had no clue on how to evacuate a city nor did he know anything about steps to take after a disaster such as this. But in typical American fashion, let's bitch at the President. It's his fault right? He's the one that order the Hurricane to hit the city right? He's the one that told federal agencies to wait a week until sending supplies to those in need right? Whatever. All I can say is "Where's Rudy?" He would've known what to do. And by the way Mr. Mayor, see this picture below? If you were an educated person and knew how powerful this Hurricane was going to be like the rest of us did, you probably would have put these buses to use huh?

He's Back!!!!!!

It's Just Sad

As the days continue on and we watch the sad images of the devastation in New Orleans, I am reminded of September 11th. But it's not a good memory as you would expect from me. As we saw resolve and lending support for another in NYC on that tragoc day, we are seeing disgust and crime in New Orleans. For as long as I can remember, I have never heard one good thing about the city of New Orleans. May God Bless those people who have been affected, but I can't help but be frustrated at those bastards who are turning this tragedy into something worse. There are reports of looting, shootings, and rape in the Big Easy and now buildings are starting to burn. It's a terrible situation that I cannot see being resolved anytime soon. I recently saw an American Online Poll of 25,000 voters and 53% agreeing that the President is doing a poor job on the Hurricane effort. To you un-American a-holes, direct your bitching to the war. This is a tragedy that not one person can handle. It's going to take a nation to reach out and help rebuild these communities in the gulf coast. And since this country has proven that we have no patience, sit back, because it will take years for New Orleans and Biloxi to become cities again. It's just sad. That's all I can say

They Need Help

Help those who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina.

To My Liberal Friends

To my liberal friends and those who are against this war, you are a minority. It took me some time to realize this. That most Americans are compassionate conservative people who care about this country and the men and women in the armed forces. To those who are liberal and have nothing better to do than bitch about this war, you are doing a great disservice to your country by throwing your own political views in to this already corrupted world. Shut up! Please, I beg you, shut up! Take the Cindy Sheehans and the Jane Fondas to the nearest water well and drop them in head first. But once again, you are a minority. Do you know what that means? As much as you think you are accomplishing something, your not. Your far from it. In fact, your not even making a dent into this society. Media outlets will continue to run your story only for the fact that the media today only focuses more on the negatives than the positive. Ron Reagan will applaud you on MSNBC only for the fact that he too is a liberal moron. Bill Mahr will commend you on his cable tv show only for the fact that he is trying his darnest to impress you with his political knowledge and steering away from his past as a unsuccessful stand up comic. It is with great ease that I now know that the majority of this country is on my side. That's how George Bush collected the most votes ever recorded in a Presidential Election last year. It hurts doesn't it? And the next time your on the road, count how many cars you pass that have a ribbon magnet on their car saying "We Support Our Troops." Those people care. You don't. So for the last time, shut up!

Gas Prices on the Rise

Although I support the war in Iraq and our President, I do however have a problem with the continuing upswing of gas prices. I know were at war, but it's getting pretty ridiculous at the pump. You are now hearing stories of people filling up and leaving the gas station without paying. Some of those stories have tragic endings. As much effort it seems that people are taking in ending the war through their useless protests, I just wish they can turn that effort and concentrate more on what's going on here in the states. Let the military take care of things over there and let's worry more about this economy and our own surroundings. For those of you who live in the same area as I do, I have found a website that keeps track of local gas stations with the lowest gas prices. The site is updated constantly. Here is the link:

http://charlestongasprices.com

Whats in a name?

Ok, maybe I am completely wrong on this, but I just have to address my opinion on the whole "racist team names" that have somehow offended the Native American community for a long time. I must first tell you that I grew up and reside in a town where the middle school and high school nicknames are the Redskins. I am a Washington Redskin fan as well as a Atlanta Braves fan. I for one do not understand the racist connection the Native Americans see in these names. Are we taking advantage of their heritage and glorifying it with sport? Is there a proper way to carry on the Indian heritage? Through literature, museums, and movies? Is the name "Redskin" really that racist of a word? Maybe I'm just not understanding the whole situation. Granted I'm not a Native American and maybe that's the reason I just don't understand the whole uproar about these protests. I am simply a person who has always thought that naming a team and Indian name was only about honoring that name. Rather it be the Braves, or the Tribe, or Redskins, I simply think it is a way to honor those communities.

This land was founded by the Indian and I can only see fit that we continue the tradition in honoring our native brothers and sisters by carrying on their names. If it's a high school nickname or a street name, I see the name as only as an honor. Nothing else. The Native Americans see it differently. They see it as vulgerous and an act of intrusion of what the names mean. They are being misinformed that even though the names are attached to a sport and that sport may at times be violent like football, it's a tradition that has been going on for so many years that I question the timing.

It's amazing that the world we live in now can be so political and that we have this "better watch you say" attitude, it makes me sick to realize that we are slowly sliding into a corrupted and controlled society. We are being watched so closely now that I'm afraid to even type this post. I might offend someone and have the government inform me to shut down the site because I have crossed some moral or ethics boundary that offended Chief Wahoo. If there is a crime in this world when it comes to racisim or bigotry on name calling, I think you need to take a closer look at groups like the ACLU and NAACP. These are the people you should be afraid of. Their the worst racists trying to fight racism.

Dennis Rader Sentenced to Life

I spent the day today watching the sentencing for BTK killer Dennis Rader. The monster that killed 10 people in Wichita, Kansas from 1974-1991. Today was also an opportunity for the victims families to speak out in court in front of Rader and to express their feelings for him. I was very impressed with their composure and just prayed that they will somehow in someway find some closure to this chapter in their lives. And as the judge handed down the sentence of life for each of the 10 counts of murder, I couldn't help but think of the day Rader will leave this earth. Now I'm a Christian and I believe that the Lord will accept anyone who accepts him regardless of who they are and what they have done in their life. But can you imagine this scenario. Rader walks to the gates of Heaven. Peter meets him there. "Sorry Dennis, we don't accept your kind here. I hear Satan is looking for an intern. Take those stairs over there. They'll lead you down to his office." As Rader is walking along the gates of Heaven, he glances over and sees each of his victims. All of them smiling. All of them waving at him. All of them hugging each other. Bye bye Dennis. Rot in hell!

To the victims families, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Yea. Me too. So I was plugged into my Rhapsody program the other night just listening to different musical artists. I was listening to the usual stuff like Elvis, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, and Ray Charles. I even listened to some Dane Cook. Now that's one funny dude. Well, I was completely tired of listening to the usual when I decided to venture out of my box and pick someone I have never listened to before. In stepped Ashlee Simpson. Why I picked her Autobiography CD I have no idea. But there I was. A 32 year old grown man listening to Ashlee Simpson. And folks, I liked what I was hearing. I am here to confess, I like Ashlee Simpson's CD. Is that wrong? I thought there was a petition to get her kicked out of the music business. I thought there was a huge falling out of her fans after the SNL debacle. Well, she just gained a fan. That's right. I dig the younger sister of Daisy Duke. I seriously think it's a darn good CD. Even better than what big sis has ever put out. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Hilary Duff to listen to.

January 8, 1935-August 16, 1977

Matthew McGrory dead at 32

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Matthew McGrory, the deep-voiced 7-foot-plus actor who moved from appearances on Howard Stern's radio show to a high-profile role as a gentle giant in the movie "Big Fish," has died. He was 32. McGrory died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles, said director Drew Sky, who was working with him on his current movie, a biopic of wrestler-turned-actor Andre the Giant. Paramedics determined he died of apparent natural causes, police said. McGrory, who had size 29 1/2 shoes, appeared on Stern's show in the 1990s and received other attention from the national media even before he became an actor. He attended law school and showed up in music videos before starting his career in Hollywood B-movies.

As some of you know, I am a huge fan of the movie Big Fish. We have all read and seen the story of Cindy Sheehan who began a protest Aug. 6 on the road that leads to President Bush's ranch in memory of her 24-year-old son Casey, who was killed in Iraq last year. Dozens of others have since joined her. My initial reaction was "God Bless Her." She lost a son and she has every right to know why her son was killed. But not in this type of forum. She is taken every step in making herself a celebrity. To draw attention from the nation to help in her cause. Well, she has done just that but unfortunately, she has a very small following. Where's Michael Moore? Where's Bruce Springsteen? Where's Al Franken? Bill Mahr? It's a shame that people have to go these lengths just to get noticed. As much as I appreciate Mrs. Sheehan's effort, she does not get my respect. That respect goes to her son. An American who wanted to do something for his country. A son who decided one day that there are more important things in life than just sit around and bitch about how this country is going in the tank. Unlike his mother who just wants to stand in front of a house and cry, he enlisted into the military and died as a brave soldier. He did something. He defended me and you and your family. Why is that so hard to believe? But why are we in Iraq you ask? Because that's where the murderers are. The muslims. They are born and bred there each year into being murderers and to kill innocent people just like me and you. But to the Mrs. Sheehan's and the Jane Fonda's, please shut up. You along with millions of US citizens had your chance to have your voices heard last November. But you lost. Deal with it. Deal with this war. In the end, it will be a better world and a better country. But it's up to those whiny people to shut up and get to work on making this country a better place to live. And I will finish with this and I cannot believe that I'm quoting John F. Kennedy but....

"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country"

FORE!!!!!

Trying to play some golf at the Putnam County Rotary Clubs 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane, WV. He had just turned 67. It is reported that he lost his battle with lung cancer. Too fast, too soon. I will be the first to tell you that I don't care much about the media these days. Especially those who sit in front of you every night and report what they think is news. We were fortunate to see Dan Rather walk away from his desk. Trust me, that was a blessing. Tom Brokaw came close to being the next Cronkite. But Peter Jennings has a place in my heart that will live with me for the rest of my life. On September 11, 2001 I was enroute to a job interview in Charlotte, NC. I was living in Myrtle Beach, SC at the time and it was only a three hour drive. I hit the road early and popped in a cd for some driving music. Half way there, I turned on the radio and that's when the first reports came in about the crash at the World Trade Center. This was before I had a cellphone, so I couldn't call anyone to see what was going on. All I had was the radio. I just kept driving and listening to the ABC News broadcast with Peter Jennings. For as long as I live, I'll remember that day and the events that unfolded right there on my radio. How quiet it was at times when Peter had nothing to say. Who could blame him? Who could say anything that day? But there was Peter on the air that morning and there he was when I went to bed around two o'clock in the morning. A true newsman. Making sure we were up to date on everything. We lost a good man today. Goodnight Pete!

Marshall Football Practice, August 6th

I spent this past Saturday afternoon down at Marshall Stadium for some Herd football practice. This was the first time I had stepped foot in that stadium in over four years. Things have certainly changed. Not only has the stadium changed with a new turf surface, but the faces have changed. Marshall has a new coach and pretty much a new team. I'm really excited about the upcoming season. I'm not going to be an idiot and predict an undefeated season or anything, but I think it will be successful season. Successful being that we are now in a new and better conference and our bowl chances are alot better than what were used to. When I decided a few months ago to move back to West Virginia, I wanted to move back to be closer to my family. But I must confess, a big reason was Marshall football. It's an addiction I never intend to break. The war on terror is not over my friends. As reports keep coming in about the bombings in London and the numerous deaths and injuries pile up, the United States is taking every precaution it can in all airports and subway stations. I for one am proud of this country's security response since the events of September 11, 2001. When was the last time this country has been attacked? Exactly. It's unfortunate that some countries won't follow suit, such as England and Russia and Spain. Their own "homeland security" is not as strong as ours and I will tell you why. It's because of our military. Our enormous police force. Our local firehouses and response teams. It's our brave men and women overseas who are taking the fight to the terrorists themselves instead of dealing with them here at home. You don't mess with the US my friends. On September 11th, those terrorists woke a sleeping giant who has failed to rest. (Well, except for the idiot liberals in this country who want to bitch about everything including this war.) Today in London was a lesson that England unfortunately had to receive. Get off your asses and do something. Study the blueprints that the United States has followed since 2001. We take this war on terror very seriously and we shall not rest until the last terrorist is sleeping with his 100 virgins and praising alongside Allah in a rat-infested hell. As I watched today's events from London and listened to witness accounts of what happened, I could only ask myself, "why couldn't they have bombed the French?" Who the hell likes the French?

2012 Olympics

Isn't it excited that London got the 2012 Olympics as the host city? And what a big slap in the face to Paris and all them smelly french idiots. Since the beginning of this war on terror, it was no secret who are partners were. England has always been there with us and the bond could not be stronger between the two leaders of each country. Tony Blair has taken a lot of heat from his own countrymen for taking a stand alongside George Bush on this fight against terrorism. But after today's announcement, I'm sure most of them bloody fools are back sipping their tea and rejoicing in their local pubs downtown. France on the other hand can kiss my bloody arse. Trust me, I'm not the only one saying this. France has dug itself into a hole with their ignorant leader opening his own mouth this past week criticizing England and the whole "mad cow" disease reference. I think Jacques needs to concentrate more on the personal hygiene of the French women over there. But I am really happy for the British on this momumental victory of hosting the biggest sporting event of all. It was clear early on that New York City had no chance of winning this bid. In fact, they finished fourth. I strongly believe their biggest loss is having someone like Hillary Clinton representing the city. Bad choice. Where was Rudy? Where was Trump? Where was Lettermen? Where were the firemen? Most importantly, where were the families of the victims from September 11th? These games in New York were to help unifiy and declare that nobody comes into this city and country and pushes us around. Oh well, politics are politics. What can we do? But then again, at least we ain't the French.
